EASTER DEVOTIONAL SERIES: THE WORDS OF JESUS
Welcome to the final part of our Easter devotional series. Today is a celebration! We celebrate Resurrection Sunday, the glorious day Jesus rose from the dead, conquering sin and death once and for all.
In the Gospel of John, we encounter a powerful moment between Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Mary was a woman who had earlier been healed by Jesus. Mary had spent much time with Jesus, traveling with Him and the disciples and supporting their ministry work. After Jesus’ resurrection, Mary was weeping outside the empty tomb when she encountered two angels who asked her why she was crying. Turning around, she saw Jesus standing there, but she did not recognize him. Jesus simply said to her, “Mary,” (John 20:16)
Upon hearing her own name spoken to her by that familiar voice, everything changed. At that moment, Mary recognized the voice of her Savior. She turned and exclaimed, “Rabboni!” which means “Teacher.”
This tender moment between Jesus and Mary Magdalene speaks volumes about the nature of their relationship. Even in the midst of her grief and confusion, Jesus reached out to Mary by calling her name. He knew her intimately and she knew him. His resurrection brought hope, joy, and the promise of new life.
Jesus then sent Mary to share the good news that he was getting ready to ascend to the Father. Mary went at once to the disciples and announced her interaction with Jesus saying, “I have seen the Lord,” (John 20:18).
As we celebrate Resurrection Sunday, let us remember that Jesus is alive. He has risen. He calls each of us by name, inviting us into a deep and personal relationship with him. Just as he revealed himself to Mary, he longs to reveal himself to each of us. Let’s listen for the Savior’s voice today as we eagerly look for him. May we, like Mary, respond to the voice of our Savior with love, devotion, and unwavering faith. And may we proclaim this good news to others with joy announcing that we have seen the Lord.

Thanks Lynn for the Easter devotionals. With 6 TNU grands here they were just what I needed to keep my focus on Jesus and just resurrection. What a beautiful worship service we had yesterday. Luv you !!
