As we enter a new year, it’s natural to think about the changes we want to make and the goals we want to achieve. Philippians 3:13-14 reminds us that no matter what our plans or aspirations may be, we are called forget what is behind and press on toward what is ahead.
In these verses, Paul writes, “But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
As believers, our ultimate goal is not earthly success or personal achievement, but rather, it is to grow closer to God and to live out His will for our lives. This means that as we embark on the new year, we should focus not on our past mistakes or failures, but rather, on the things that God is calling us to do and be in the future.
This doesn’t mean that we should ignore the lessons of the past, but rather, that we should let go of the things that are holding us back and instead, press on towards the things that God has planned for us.
So as you enter this new year, take a moment to reflect on the things that God is calling you to do and be. Ask Him to help you let go of the things that are holding you back and to give you the strength and courage to press on towards Him.
And remember, no matter what challenges or setbacks you may face in the new year, God is with you every step of the way, guiding you and helping you to grow closer to Him. So let’s keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and press on towards Him, trusting in His love and His plan for our lives.
What are you praying about as we enter 2023? How will you fix your eyes on Jesus and press on toward Him?
Happy New Year, Jesus Sisters!
