In today’s episode, we hear from Pastor Tom Parker, an old friend from high school. After 32 years God allowed our paths to cross once again. It’s amazing to reconnect with friends from long ago to get a first hand look at the amazing things God can do in and through a person’s life when they turn to Him. Tom has been in ministry for a number of years and is now the Area Director for Young Life in the Nort Port, Charlotte Harbor, Englewood area in Florida.
The traditional church youth ministry is built to reach the kids that show up to the church building. That certainly has a purpose and fills a need. Tom explains in this episode that his job in Young Life is to meet kids where they are. He has an amazing story of meeting with …. at an area mall where they feed kids a hot meal, offer them clothes and other items of need, listen to them, hang out and connect with them, and share the good news of Jesus! Their mission it to go after the kid furthest from God so they can reach all the kids in between along the way. They are chasing down teens to introduce them to Jesus!
